Web of Knowledge gets a face lift and more

The Web of Knowledge (WoK) has changed with new features and enhancements to improve your search experience and results. Through the WoK, we have access to Web of Science, Inspec, MEDLINE and Journal Citation Reports.

Now all terms in the topic field are searched which means there are no stop words.  Lemmatization and automatic stemming has been added. This helps to automatically find variants of your search terms.  Left hand truncation is now allowed.  The NEAR operator lets you specify the distance between your search terms .  And all search results are returned, allowing for the most accurate set combination and results analysis.

Other changes include a new addition in the Citation Report (accessed from the search screen and not the cited reference screen). You can now easily view the citation count without self-citations and an average citation count per paper.

You can review the full list of new features. Until the end of 2011 you can still search in the previous version 4 interface. If you have bookmarked previous versions of of the WoK or individual databases, you will need to update your bookmarks to new links.
