School’s Out for….Baseball!

With classes completed and Summer just around the corner, some of you will catch a baseball game or two before long. You needn’t leave the library or travel far to learn about the math or physics of baseball.  For many mathematicians and scientists, the national pastime also passes as class time.

As a major research library, we actually have hundreds of books on baseball. From The Cambridge companion to baseball to The physics of baseball, you can rely on the library for more than recreational reading about baseball.

Are you a mathematician or just curious about mathematical models used in sports? Once again, a mathematician from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has used mathematical models and released his predictions for the 2012 Major League Baseball champions. There are many ways to learn and dream about baseball right here in a library in Hanover. From baseball statistics to baseball poetry, I think we have our bases covered.
