Celebrate arXiv’s 1 Millionth Paper

As a leading Open Access service for the sciences, arXiv allows researchers to share their papers before they are formally published. Starting from a electronic bulletin board, arXiv has grown to over 1 million submissions! Information provided by Cornell University, arXiv’s host institution, state that arXiv had nearly 90 million downloads and 97,000 submissions in 2013 alone!  In addition, recent research suggests that the “analysis of citation data demonstrates that free and immediate online dissemination of preprints creates an immense citation advantage”.  Another great reason to celebrate arXiv!
